How about a Memorial for the Victims of Enterovirus?

Eli Thomas WallerOriginally posted at American Thinker

It’s always nice to reminisce about Barack Obama’s many selective responses to tragedies over the years. When Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords and 18 other innocent Americans were shot in a Tucson, Arizona shopping mall parking lot, six of whom died, Barack Obama rushed to Giffords’s bedside.

At the Tucson Memorial, which took place four days after the shooting, the president shared with America how, when he walked into the room where Gabby lay with a bullet wound to her head, she miraculously opened her eyes. It was a Jesus-and-Lazarus moment for sure.

Nonetheless, with that kind of miracle-working track record, too bad Son of Africa Barack “My Brother’s Keeper” Obama didn’t do what he’s asked every American to do, which is to show ‘no greater love than to lay down his life’ for the now-deceased Thomas Eric Duncan.

If Duncan hadn’t died, Obama could have proven to America that Ebola is not a threat by paying the Liberian Ebola victim a visit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Then, just like it did with Gabby Gifford, his mere presence probably could have saved Thomas Eric Duncan’s body from the ravages of viral hemorrhagic fever.

Seeing as how Obama paying a hospital visit to an Ebola patient is never going to happen, how about headlining another memorial for dead children like he’s done in the past?

So far, there has been no mention of commemorative gatherings for the latest round of Americans killed as a result of Barry’s political viciousness. Still, the next one could be in the style of the memorial that honored Christina Taylor Green, the nine-year-old killed in the Giffords shooting.

The difference would be that the newest group would include four-year-old Eli Waller of New Jersey; Emily Otrando, a 10-year-old girl from Rhode Island; and three adults, all of whom recently succumbed to a viral infection called Enterovirus 68, imported from Latin America compliments of Barack Obama.

Remember all the wonderful things Obama had to say about Christina during the Tucson Memorial speech? It was there that the president said that all of our children are “deserving of our love.” Unfortunately, even though love for children should include protection from harm, protection is what the president failed to provide Eli and Emily.

It was during the Tucson Memorial that President Obama said:

If this tragedy prompts reflection and debate, as it should, let’s make sure it’s worthy of those we have lost. Let’s make sure it’s not on the usual plane of politics and point scoring and pettiness that drifts away with the next news cycle.

Speaking of politics, both Eli and Emily died from a virus brought across our borders by unaccompanied minors whom Obama purposely encouraged, for political reasons, to migrate north.

Using Christina’s death as a springboard, in Tucson, Obama also talked about living up to our children’s expectations. Children like Emily, whose expectations were dashed and whose premature obituary described her as a “sweet, loving, beautiful child who found joy in life and nature.”

Christina Taylor Green loved civics and being on the student council. Emily loved dolphins and horses, swimming, and clamming, as well as writing and making art.

If by chance there is a memorial for children who are victims of Obama policies and the president attends, maybe he can stir the emotions of the crowd by talking about how, when Emily died of an Enterovirus 68 staph infection, she was in the process of growing her hair long like Luna Lovegood, her favorite Harry Potter character.

Fantasies aside, for lack of acknowledgment on his part, one can’t help but notice that the senseless deaths of children like Christina Taylor Green and Hadiya Pendleton, the 15-year-old shot to death in Chicago, certainly receive more sympathy from Barack Obama than children who die in the furtherance of his personal political agenda.

The president is willing to pass laws and sign executive orders to save children from gun violence, but in reality, a threat far greater than guns looms in the form of deadly pathogens. Still, the man who talked about caring for our children remains staunchly defiant in his refusal to protect those very children from people carrying not guns and ammunition, but deadly contagions and infectious disease.

Then there’s Eli Waller, the youngest of triplets, who died because of a virus the president who wiped away tears at Sandy Hook allowed to infiltrate the lives of the most vulnerable and helpless among us.

Andy Waller described his little boy: “He was a beautiful mix of eagerness and hesitancy, need and striving, caution and surprise, all of which were grounded in a pure, unconditional love.”

What goes through Barack Obama’s mind when he listens to Eli’s heartbroken father talk about the gentle, loving preschooler who, thanks to Enterovirus 68, went to bed with pinkeye and never woke up?

Christina Taylor Green died as the result of a madman with a Glock 19 named Jared Loughner. During the Tucson Memorial, Obama said, “If there are rain puddles in heaven, Christina is jumping in them today.” Three years later, because of a president with a “pen and a phone,” Emily and Eli are jumping in those heavenly puddles alongside Christina.

It was at the Interfaith Vigil in Newtown that the president reminded America that our “first task [is] caring for our children[.] … If we don’t get that right, we don’t get anything right.”

Yet Barack Obama is the one who has exposed America’s children to an unprecedented danger.

And as Americans who would never fall victim to a school shooting continue to die as a result of reckless immigration policies, those deaths are a tragic reflection of a presidency that has gotten nothing right.

Obama is Roosting America’s Chickens

In the words of Reverend Jeremiah Wright, “America’s chickens are coming home to roost” – but not for the reasons Wright was referring to.  Instead, these chickens are the result of Barack Obama’s policies, which are so detrimental to the health, safety, and wellbeing of the American people that now the most innocent and helpless among us are suffering the ramifications of a social experiment run amok.

It’s not bad enough that it’s only a matter of time before unknown numbers of people are murdered by a terrorist attack everyone agrees is inevitable.  Nor is it horrifying enough that ISIS has threatened to execute random attacks on innocent Americans and kill military personnel while they sleep in their beds.

Does the president even care that an illegal teenage assassin from a Mexican drug cartel is at large somewhere in America, and known murderers, sex offenders, and all-around bad guys are running loose in the streets of towns all along the border?

Guess not, because Obama remains unflinching in his determination to keep the border open.  With each passing day, in addition to violent gang members and criminals being waved through, individuals with very dangerous communicable diseases are strolling from Latin America directly into the border states.

As a result, it’s taken only a few short months for Obama’s chicken-roosting to take the form of thousands of defenseless American children being infected with pathogens shared by hosts who shouldn’t be in this country in the first place.

For starters, in 18-plus states, there are children infected with a respiratory virus that makes it hard to breathe.  Enterovirus DV-68, which is rare here but common in Latin America, is causing some children to turn blue, requiring hospitalization and intubation.

And still the border remains open.

Adding insult to injury, there is now a disturbing report out of the border state of Texas that more than 700 infants and 40 employees in El Paso’s Providence Memorial Hospital have been exposed to tuberculosis.  The culprit is an anonymous hospital employee, who was probably helping the American economy by doing jobs unemployed Americans would love to do.

That’s right – 700 infants swaddled in receiving blankets, lying in hospital bassinets, are the newest victims of an ideology-driven president who has placed the wants and desires of illegal invaders above the welfare of vulnerable newborn babies.

Hospital officials have not identified the female nursery worker who coughed and sneezed all over infants and hospital workers.  However, what they are saying is that the exposure took place over the course of one year, and that those exposed to an infection that is often resistant to antibiotics were identified via employment and medical records.

Carrie Williams, spokeswoman for the Texas Department of State Health service, warned that “[t]his is an incredibly large exposure investigation, and it involves infants, so it is particularly sensitive.”  Carrie did admit that “[b]abies are more likely than older children and adults to develop life-threatening forms of TB.”

According to the health authority for El Paso County, Dr. Hector Ocaranza, while sick “unaccompanied minors” and individuals with MDR-TB, malaria, swine flu, and very possibly Ebola continue to stream into our nation, officials are awaiting results from the tests Providence Memorial hospital workers took to determine who contracted an illness that can be fatal if not treated.

The parents of the newborns who were exposed to TB have been directed by health officials to have their children screened, which is something many “unaccompanied minors” from Latin America didn’t have to submit to before being relocated all over the United States by an illegal immigrant-friendly Obama administration.

Downplaying the gravity of needlessly exposing 740 innocent people to a dangerous bacterial lung infection that can lie dormant for years, Barack Obama water carrier Hector Ocaranza reassured the concerned public that despite the president’s careless disregard for the security of the American people, TB, just like Enterovirus 68, although dangerous, is treatable and does not represent a threat to public health.

If that’s true, Dr. Ocaranza, why did 740 people require testing?

Nonetheless, as we wait for the next infectious disease outbreak, random ISIS beheadings, or, worse still, a small nuke in a major American city, America continues to be inundated with large numbers of psychopaths and pathogens, all of which are actively assisting in Obama’s roosting of America’s chickens.

Michelle Kvetches to Children with Cancer

First Lady Michelle Obama figured now was as good a time as any to visit some sick children. Not the ones on breathing tubes suffering from Enterovirus 68, mind you, but non-contagious patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

After admitting that she dislikes “selfies” but agreeing to be part of an “ussie,” and after discussing flying her dogs around on Air Force One, the first lady became painfully honest. So much so that she even complained to youngsters battling childhood cancers about the misery of living in the White House and being married to a guy who, besides being the president of the United States, spends an inordinate amount of time on the golf course.

The first lady’s grievances were expressed in response to the star-struck kids asking her what her “favorite part [was] about being in the White House.”

Mrs. Obama’s initial response to the question was that her favorite thing “[a]bout being in the – about being First Lady is being able to do stuff like this, really. And it is so special for me to get to meet kids like you guys.”

Michelle didn’t mention the trolleys shuttling her and her guests to elegant state dinners in heated tents. Nor did she mention the famous people who drop by for parties and major events, or her unlimited access to $100-per-pound Wagyu beef, $12K Carolina Herrera gowns, millions of dollars for vacations all over the world, or the multitude of other perks she enjoys at taxpayers’ expense.
Instead, Michelle unloaded her personal problems onto cancer-stricken kids. To commiserate with children who may not live to see puberty, Mrs. Obama chose to distract them by saying that for her, “[s]ometimes living in the White House and being married to the president and trying to live a life like that, it can be hard.”
As for us, okay, we get it: it’s hard times for Michelle Obama, which may be why, when she’s not vacationing or shopping for haute couture, she feels compelled to share her personal troubles with little kids on anti-nausea drugs. Still, one can’t help but wonder – if living in the White House with servants, butlers, and chefs is hard for Michelle, how would the first lady have fared as a seven-year-old enduring chemotherapy or radiation treatments?

After involving the sick and dying in her marital struggles and her displeasure with her current living arrangements, Michelle turned upbeat and followed up her “married to … life like that … can be hard” comment with: “But when I meet you guys, I am so inspired, which is one of the reasons why I like to come and spend time with you guys.”

The FLOTUS then went on to tell the pediatric patients that she once worked in a hospital, but she skipped the part about it being a no-show job for $316K per year. Then Mrs. Obama complimented her audience, telling them, “[Y]ou all [are] smart … focused and courageous[.]” This is way more than can be said for the guy she’s married to, who, based on his leadership style, has turned out not to be smart, focused, or courageous.

Michelle stressed to the kids, many of whom had no hair, that visiting with them is the “cool part” of being first lady, after which she repeated aloud the children’s question: “What’s the best part of living in the White House?”

Michelle confessed that for her, one “best part” is the South Lawn.

The South Lawn is where heated tents have been erected in the dead of winter to wine and dine French presidents. It’s where Mrs. Barry O’Bama gets to dye the water in the fountain green on St. Patrick’s Day, where the annual Easter egg roll takes place, and where the Obamas hand out candy on Halloween. It is also where the White House Kitchen Garden and beehives reside, and where Marine One drops off at the house Michelle finds it hard to live in the husband she finds it hard being married to, and where Sunny and Bo occasionally drop stuff off, too.

Then, in addition to doing Art Therapy, promising to dance after the cameras shut off, and agreeing to pour a bucket of water over the president’s head when she got home, Mrs. Obama told the kids:

I like the Truman Balcony … that that’s one of my favorite places to be, because we can be outside and you can look over the fountain, and you see the Washington Memorial, and it’s a really pretty view. And it’s peaceful.

The Truman Balcony is where the president and his put-upon first lady, together with various world leaders, endure the drudgery of black-tie cocktail parties, where Michelle joins her husband in begrudgingly thanking the troops for their service at 4th of July picnics, and where the Obamas occasionally emerge like royalty to wave to the unwashed masses from a lofty perch, far from one-on-one contact with illegal teenage assassins, illegal sex offenders, and contagions like Enterovirus 68, MDR-TB, Norwegian scabies, malaria, and soon-to-be-arriving hemorrhagic Ebola.

The Truman Balcony is also the perfect platform for tossing cake to America’s starving peons. That’s why it’s good to know that if she’s feeling miserable about being married to the president and glum about the tough life she lives, Michelle has somewhere to go to take her mind off her troubles.

And so, probably with good intentions at heart, the first lady did visit sick kids at St. Jude’s Research Hospital. However, omitting tales of opulent indulgence while complaining to the terminally ill about her husband and her supposed difficult life in the White House proves again that Michelle Obama has no idea what it means to suffer.

The Invasion of Enterovirus EV-D68

Unfortunately for the rest of America, liberals are not going to realize the damage they have wrought on all of us until they personally experience the ramifications of supporting Barack Obama.

At this juncture, maybe an illegal-immigrant-caused mini pandemic will rouse liberals out of the fevered delusion that this president somehow has the best interests of the nation’s children at heart.

What is obvious is that Barack Obama does have the best interests of children at heart: illegal immigrant children harboring viruses and communicable diseases. American children who are defenseless against the onslaught, not so much.

Maybe liberals haven’t noticed yet, but it hasn’t taken all that long for the infective consequences of President Obama’s refusal to put Americans first to befall the most innocent among us. For starters, Ohio, California, and Kansas are just a few of the states already struggling to contain measles outbreaks.

Now, in addition to measles, more than 1,000 children in 10 states — Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Georgia — have suddenly become infected with a rare respiratory virus, not seen in the U.S. since the 1960s, called human Enterovirus EV-D68. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claim that the rare strain is related to the same rhinovirus responsible for causing the common cold.

The dire prediction is that in the coming weeks and months, Enterovirus EV-D68, origin unknown, is due to spread to all 50 states and afflict great numbers of otherwise healthy children.

Referring to borders between states, ABC News Chief Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser said a mouthful when he pointed out that “Viruses don’t tend to respect borders.” The problem for America is that if international borders are not respected, viruses native to other countries migrate as well, and to date are being scattered around the nation, rather than deported.

What more potent a formula for disaster than “unaccompanied minors” with all sorts of contagious diseases coming across the border into our communities, and more specifically into our schools, where American children are now falling ill.

That’s why the obvious question is this: Where did Enterovirus EV-D68 originate and did it ‘entero’ the U.S. via illegal children?

Dr. Besser contended that enteroviruses tend to show up in the summer, which, this year, just so happens to coincide with thousands of unvaccinated and sickly illegal children infiltrating the U.S. border.

Besser also claimed the virus spreads when children go back to school. Unfortunately, what the good doctor chose not to mention is that viruses of unknown origin have more of an opportunity to spread if public schools are overrun with illegal students infected with God-knows-what.

Then Besser said, and this is a winner for sure, that “This particular Enterovirus EV-D68 is very rare and they have no idea why it showed up this year.”

If Dr. Richard Besser doesn’t suspect that the flood of children from south of the border are bringing with them all sorts of Third-World diseases and are likely the primary source of this and many other illnesses poised to become a problem, then maybe ABC News needs a new Chief Health and Medical Editor.

At Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado, between mid-August and early September doctors saw more than “900 pediatric patients with symptoms of the respiratory virus in the emergency room.” Eighty-six were admitted, and a small number of children, possibly even the offspring of Colorado Obama voters, ended up in the intensive care unit.

I guess for liberals, sedated kids on breathing tubes is but a small price to pay if it furthers Obama’s agenda to welcome “unaccompanied minors” into our nation, our classrooms, and, if it comes down to it, even into our children’s lung tissue.

Professor of medicine and medical director of Doctor Radio at New York University’s Langone Medical Center Dr. Marc Siegel wrote this in Slate magazine:

As many as 50,000 children, mostly from Central American countries… are not being detained for the purpose of identifying illness, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement relying on self-report of symptoms, and many have already been sent to other states, where disease can spread.

Predictably, the medical community and the CDC are blaming the spread of this “rare” virus on seasonal allergies and the start of the school year.

Rather than daring to suggest that illegal children could be the source and quarantining – or better yet, rounding up and sending home — “unaccompanied minors,” health officials are recommending hand-washing, avoiding other sick children, covering noses and mouths when sneezing and coughing, as well as “having a game plan” if a child with asthma suddenly turns blue and can’t breathe.

Instead of playing the politically-correct denial game, would it be so wrong to suggest that the emergence of a new strain of childhood virus could be a result of the 112% increase in the numbers of new “unaccompanied minors” streaming into the country, carrying with them diseases either new, rare, or altogether eradicated from the U.S. for decades?

Either way, this season it looks like Enterovirus EV-D68 is here to stay, and will probably reach all 50 states.

As for the liberals who thought that voting for Barack Obama and supporting his so-called “compassionate immigration policies” somehow exempted them or their children from contagious diseases, they had better think again.

Rest assured, things are about to get much uglier for liberals and conservatives, adults and children alike, all of whom are at risk of being exposed, thanks to Barack Obama’s liberal agenda, to the terrors of communicable diseases and viruses much worse than Enterovirus EV-D68.
